The CAT tool to try if you like translating creative texts straight into Word without the usual constraints of stand-alone CAT tools. It has lots of features (segmentation, alignment, concordance search, etc.) which not only work very well, you are also able to tweak them and adapt them to your needs, letting you, the translator, in charge in a way other (overpriced) CAT tools do not. Easy to use and affordable, this software deserves a big shout-out.
Extremely useful ebook converter and reader. You can do plenty of things with it, including converting various standard ebook files (mobi, epub, etc.) into Word or pdf documents. The software is completely free but, if you like it, then a wee voluntary contribution will get you brownie points.
Two very simple but powerful tools for aligning source and target texts and looking up multiple translation memories in one place (giving plenty of context if needed). They beat any well-known CAT software hands down both in terms of efficiency and ease of use. Hard to believe they are free though any contribution would of course further add to your brownie points. Kudos to Andras Farkas who designed these.
